Cameroon GCE Registration 2019 Records 17% Drop as compared to 2018
The Registrar of the Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE Board, says the 2019 session of the GCE witnessed a 17-percent drop in registration.
Dang Akuh Dominic, made the revelation on April 23 in Yaoundé as he presented a report on the state of preparedness of the Board, for the 2019 GCE examination session.
The Statistics As Compared To Last Year Are As Follows
Registered candidates for 2019 =104,502
Registered students for 2018 = 130,000
Drop in Candidates = 26,000
GCE O/L 2019 = 65,638
GCE O/L 2018 = 78,579
GCE A/L 2019 = 30,498
GCE A/L 2018 = 40,192
GCE O/L Technical 2019= 4,700
GCE O/L Technical 2018 = 5,300
GCE A/L Technical 2019 = 3,621
GCE A/L Technical 2018 = 5,000
For the BAC, Brevet and Probatoire Technique, a general drop was also recorded.
In total, 110,543 candidates will be sitting in for the 2019 GCE session as against 133,104 candidates in 2018, thus a drop by 17 percent.
The registrar equally criticized some irregularities coming from chief of centers which he says still collect money from candidates to register them despite the Mobile Money adopted system.
At the close of the deliberation, Secondary Education Minister, Nalova Lyonga noted that the education family is ready for the end-of-year examinations.
